Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
This position is for a maximum of 2 months and will provide support for the Director of Migrant Student Services (MSS) as well as for Associate Directors and other lead staff. The person in this position performs a variety of administrative duties to support the operational activities of the unit and serves as a primary liaison for visitors, students, faculty, staff, administrators, and other university stakeholders. The person in this position also arranges meetings and ensures compliance with university requirements.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Office administrative support and departmental operations.
- Transactional assistant duties.
- Hires, trains, and supervises student employees.
- Other administrative duties as assigned to maintain overall operations of the unit.
This position requires:
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English
- Valid driver's license.

Experience and familiarity with MSU processes and procedures; experience or proficiency with the Microsoft 365 Suite; experience supporting administrators, triaging questions, working in an academic environment; ability to multi-task; understanding of what it means to work in a digital environment with collaborative tools; a self-starter who demonstrates a work ethic that includes proactive problem solving, ability to establish priorities, and meet deadlines; ability to work under pressure and adaptability to change; able to take initiative and work as part of a team; possess confidential, organizational, and communication tools; work orientation that includes problem-solving, teamwork and adaptability to change, focus on service and continuous learning for self-improvement.
