Position Summary
Residential & Hospitality Services (RHS) now hiring a Construction Manager with interior design expertise to serve as the liaison between RHS departments and the Planning & Projects office (PPO); helps coordinate and oversee medium and large PPO projects, IPF minor project needs, as well as day to day facilities and infrastructure projects, with emphasis on space and RHS initiatives; manages medium and large sized interior design and construction projects including new construction and alterations from programming through to final completion and punch out phases; works with teams to develop and implement programmatic needs for new initiatives; oversees the design process, project budgets, installation, construction and closeout; works with teams to develop programmatic needs and implement programmatic needs; performs additional project and job-related tasks.
All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. Minimum Requirements
Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical or vocational school with an Associate's degree in Construction Management, Interior Design or a related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in construction, industrial design, supervision and management, interior design, project management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid vehicle operator's license at the time of hire. The job requires moderate physical effort and involves visiting interior and exterior work sites.
Desired Qualifications
Three to five years’ experience using Autocad for interior design applications; extensive knowledge of interior design practices, materials, textiles as well as project management practices including schedule and budget development, analysis and management; knowledge of MSU policies and procedures, facility operations experience; knowledge of LEED or LEED accreditation; proficient in Microsoft Office products (excel , word , power point) and knowledge of PlanOn (work order management systems) and EBS (enterprise business systems); excellent customer service skills with ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population; ability to work independently and as a team; excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi task and follow through.
