Position Summary
- Load and unload articles from cabinet dryers.
- Shake out and untangle linen from dryers/ laundry carts.
- Shake, lay out, and or feed linen and uniforms into sheet spreader, ironers, vibra steamer and uniform presses.
- Remove finished linen from ironers and presses, inspect for defects and rewash items for quality control.
- Inspect, fold, press, and wrap finished laundry, placing on conveyor or in baskets or hanging on carts/ laundry racks.
- Computer skills used for scanning in/out items and filling out paperwork for proper billing and data entry; compliance training.
- Unpacking of new uniforms and linen, matching packing slip with customer order, tagging and data entry per account number.
- Perform embroidery work on linens and uniforms for all university departments.
- Report, record and maintain on-going counts of linen defect items for accurate linen replacement and inventory levels.
- Perform minor hemming and sewing repairs on linens and uniforms.
- Clean work area and equipment weekly by performing routine preventative maintenance as required, notify management as necessary.
- Train assigned part time support staff team members on work methods pertaining to policy and procedures within work area.
All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of a grade school education or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
- Frequent lifting of up to 75 pounds is required.
Desired Qualifications
This position will be a contributor in operations involving the flow of a work plant. This includes, but is not limited to, unloading, sorting, receiving, scanning in uniforms, ironing and finishing/folding of clean uniforms, aprons and linens. Computer literacy is preferred. The ability to be trained on and become proficient with invoicing/inventory systems is crucial.

Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday off.
