Position Summary

Supervises direct reports (veterinary and radiology technicians, veterinary assistants and students) in daily operations, providing quality imaging studies, a safe work culture, and efficient workflow. Maintain customer relations through communications, courteousness, timeliness, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Develop a customer-oriented workforce both internally and externally.  Facilitates regular department meetings, conducts annual reviews of radiology staff.  Perform MRI studies and assist in the acquisition of other imaging studies (CT, Radiology, Fluoroscopy, US). Work closely with radiologists and technologists to develop and continually optimize imaging protocols and staff training resources.  Assist with PACS management and oversee the safe use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Adhere to and enforce safety standards and protocols. 

 

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, vocational or business school in an approved Radiologic Technologist program; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the use of radiology equipment and exposure techniques, positioning and care of patients, radiation safety standards; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Desired Qualifications

Experience maintaining the operations of an MRI suite, training of staff in MRI protocols; experience with administration and implementation of a Picture Archive Communication System (PACS). supervisory experience.  Nuclear medicine and working in a teaching environment.

Summary of Physical Demands

Lifting of animal patients onto cages and medical equipment; carrying animals between cages and exam tables and gurneys; pushing carts containing animals and equipment to other units; climbing stairs carrying lab samples; restraining animals; preparing for medical procedures and treatments. Lift animals up to 50lbs individually and up to 150lbs as a team.

Wear a respirator (does not include paper dust mask worn for comfort)
