Position Summary

The Department of Management at Michigan State University seeks an experienced Instructor/Assistant Professor to teach an online master’s managing diversity course beginning mid-July 2025.

The “Managing Diversity in the Workplace” course (MGT 814) explores the dynamic landscape of workplace diversity and focuses on how people’s identities and experiences affect team dynamics and organizational success. This course gives students an understanding of the opportunities and challenges inherent in managing a diverse workforce. The course covers key topics related to creating and maintaining fair and inclusive workplaces, including recruitment and selection, training and development, the legal environment, human resource policies, and employee engagement. Through interactive discussions, case studies, and practical exercises, students develop crucial competencies and skills needed to effectively collaborate with and lead people from varied backgrounds and perspectives. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to contribute to building and maintaining workplaces where individuals from all backgrounds, including distinct cultures, can thrive and succeed.

This course runs for five weeks and is offered every other semester. Instruction is 100 percent online—both asynchronous and synchronous. Each week of the course includes recorded videos and live lectures/discussions. The instructor is expected to develop the course website and instructional materials (including videos). Support will be provided for course development. All work can be done remotely within the U.S.

This course is part of the Master of Science in Management, Strategy, and Leadership (MSL) program at Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business. US News and World Report ranks this program among the top 10 online master’s in business programs.
