Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions.
Unit Position Summary
The Heath-Heckman and Braasch Labs at Michigan State University are hiring for a full-time, joint animal technician to:
- care for the Heath-Heckman lab bobtail squid facility (80% of the time)
- assist in the care for the Braasch Lab Ancient Fish Facility (20% of the time)
Duties include aquarium maintenance, animal care and welfare checks, water chemistry measurement and maintenance, record keeping, facility organization and cleaning, and organization of facility users. Previous experience with salt and/or freshwater aquarium maintenance and aquatic animal care as well as personal vehicle are required. Desired Qualifications
BA/BS degree
Experience with both salt and freshwater systems; experience with molecular biology/genetics
