Position Summary

The department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr. Carmo Costa for a one-year, fixed-term position, with the possibility of renewal based on performance & funding availability. The Costa Lab focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration, with a strong emphasis on identifying novel therapeutic targets and drug candidates for neurodegenerative diseases. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful research in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct experiments related to the lab’s research objectives
  • Supervise and provide guidance to graduate and undergraduate students, as well as lab staff and technicians
  • Analyze experimental data, including large and complex datasets
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication and contribute to grant writing
  • Present research findings at lab meetings, conferences, and other scientific forums

Required Degree

Doctorate -Neuroscience, Pharmacology or related field

Minimum Requirements

  • Doctorate - Neuroscience, Pharmacology or related field.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with:

  • human stem cell cultures and organoid cultures
  • coding - basic level
  • rodents (preferably mice)
  • data presentation and statistical data analysis
  • large-data analysis (e.g. RNAseq)
  • cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (extraction of proteins, DNA and RNA from human and/or mouse cells/tissues, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, PCR, gene editing, cloning
  • confocal microscopy
