Position Summary

Characteristic Duties - Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates, tracks and follows up on outgoing clinic referrals; evaluates current referral flow and outcome and reports compliance to management with suggestions for change.
  • Manages specialized Health Care quality and incentive projects to ensure patient follow up is appropriate to maximize both patient safety and incentive returns.
  • Attends appropriate quality training and meetings as needed.
  • Assists in the development, initiation, and data collection for quality assurance projects as required.
  • Assists in maintaining master and daily schedules including multiple changes to schedules.
  • Develops, trains, and mentors HCA and HCR staff members to expected best practice workflows to enhance performance and improve quality of care delivery to match provider expectations and maximize patient visits, improve patient experience, and maximize staff utilization.
  • Completes and maintains organized attendance tracking workflow; maintains and creates a proactive approach to attendance tracking.
  • Assists in managing chronic disease registries and utilizes standing orders to ensure patients with chronic conditions receive appropriate follow up care, testing, and referrals and provides community and educational resources; works actively with Health Care Managers.
  • Generates reports related to Health Care Clinic productivity and provider compliance and reports trends or patterns.
  • Serves as a liaison with patients, other clinic staff, MSU Health Care, and the department.
  • Assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Prepares special and periodic financial or other reports for Health Care and the department.
  • Maintains health and safety standards in order to ensure compliance with Health Care, University, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs duties related to the clinical unit of employment in order to facilitate clinic operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training such as that acquired in two to three years of college in healthcare, science, or business school with coursework in a field related to the medical or ambulatory clinical experience; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in performing tasks related to the area of employment; experience with electronic medical records and electronic scheduling systems; experience in data analysis and reporting; experience in healthcare quality programs; experience in the use of spreadsheet, word processing, and database software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires a Medical Assistant Certification.

1-3 years of related outpatient clinic experience

Work hours are typically 8:00am - 5:00pm with some evenings and weekends required, vary as necessary to accommodate clinic operations.

Summary of Physical Demands

Moderate physical effort and involves eye/hand coordination, sitting or standing for long periods or viewing a CRT screen 26 - 75% of the time.

Summary of Health Risks

Exposure to human blood, serum, and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator.
