Position Summary
The Biometrics Research lab (BRL) has a rich history of conducting leading research in face and fingerprint research over the past 35 years. Students and postdocs in BRL have published seminal research papers which are widely cited. With the advent of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Artificial Image Generation (AIG), it is imperative that we fuse the domain-specific models created for say, face recognition with commercially available pre-trained AGIs, also referred to as Vision-Language Models such as ChatGPT. An intelligent fusion of these two approaches is likely to result in improved recognition performance, a confidence score in recognition decision, and an explanation for success and failure cases.
The selected candidate will work on this fusion problem and evaluate its success and pitfalls on a variety of datasets. The candidate will also be expected to write papers for to-flight conferences and journals.
