Position Summary
Plans and implements human resources activities and initiatives for departments within functional units within RHS. Administers and completes the hiring process for all temporary and regular team members, including staffing requests, hiring recommendations, reclassifications, cost distributions, wage increases, and other human resource transactions. Processes new hire paperwork for all temporary and regular team members, including I-9 forms, hiring proposals, criminal background checks, and other required paperwork. During peak hiring times, assists HR Coordinators with student and on-call hiring paperwork. Serves as a liaison between RHS human resources and MSU human resources.
Schedules and oversees consistent, legal and policy-abiding selection and interview guides and processes with potential candidates and serves on selection committees as needed to facilitate hiring process.
Interprets and applies Federal/State laws, MSU policies and procedures, and union contracts to provide information and guidance to managers to resolve questions and ensure compliance with all MSU policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements. Advises team members on human resource issues relating to University or divisional policies and procedures or other related questions that may arise during employment. Assists with the development of human resource policies and procedures for RHS as needed. Initiates fair and inclusive practices that encourage a sense of belonging for all team members.
Oversees onboarding for all new temporary and regular team members, including reviewing MSU and RHS policies and procedures, scheduling required trainings, and other related activities as needed. Provides instructions and assistance to new team members so they may complete mandatory compliance training, including OSHA, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct (RVSM), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and all other training required by MSU/RHS.
Compiles various human resource reports; updates organizational charts. Collect and utilize HR related data regarding the functional unit. Assists with interpreting data to assess departmental goals, investigate workplace satisfaction, monitor retention, attrition and promotions and team member training and development involvement and impact. Send out the exit interview survey to employees leaving SLE or MSU and fill out the SAP termination form in accordance with internal term procedures. Supports the SLE ER team, managers and team members with conflict management and mediation to help resolve human resource issues as needed. Creates and maintains human resource files. Coordinates operational activities and performs related administrative duties as assigned. Assists with various RHS HR special projects as assigned.
All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in managing human resource functions, designing and implementing training programs and human resource/labor relations management and computer applications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in managing human resource functions, designing and implementing training programs and human resource/labor relations management and computer applications.
Experience with PageUp, EBS, PeopleAdmin, Equifax systems; previous human resource coordinator experience in the Division of Residential & Hospitality Services.
