Position Summary

The MSU School of Social Work is dedicated to educating students for ethical, competent, responsive, and innovative social work practice, and to conducting and disseminating high quality research that improves the well-being of the most vulnerable in society. Our teaching, research, and outreach synergistically promote social justice, positive change, and solutions to the problems facing diverse individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. More than 700 students are enrolled in our CSWE-accredited BASW and MSW programs, and PhD program. The School of Social Work supports.

MSUs outreach mission through online and hybrid learning utilizing technology and innovative strategies to reach students across Michigan. The School of Social Work seeks a fully licensed clinical social worker to teach advanced clinical practice courses in our MSW program. Courses are offered at our East Lansing and Statewide Blended (online) campus sites. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years post MSW clinical experience with diverse clientele. Candidates with mental health, family and couples therapy, and substance use disorder treatment are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include revising and updating course materials, teaching courses in person and/or online, guiding and assessing student learning, holding weekly office hours, effective use the MSU class management platform D2L and University Instructor Systems, timely grading of student assessments and prompt communication with students.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Social Work

Minimum Requirements

MSW for Instructor Rank; earned Ph.D. for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor Rank by the date of employment. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience in teaching graduate courses and/or seminars.

Candidate must be fully licensed in the State of Michigan. Candidate must have 5+ years of experience in clinical social work practice

Desired Qualifications

High level of interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to respond to student communications in a timely manner. Experience with educational technology tools such as course management platforms, Microsoft Office, and Zoom.
