Position Summary

Supervise a team of Unit Human Resources Coordinators to ensure student and on-call staffing needs are met in a timely and efficient manner and in compliance with University, State, and Federal hiring guidelines. This role serves as a lead auditor for EBS student and on-call hiring transactions including EBS forms and reporting; as well as analysis of student and on-call hiring data, pay, and progressions. The Lead HR Coordinator will be a system administrator for PeopleAdmin applicant tracking software used for student and temporary/on-call hiring, including Human Resources user group functions, troubleshooting of system issues/errors, training of end users and serving as liaison with the software vendor. In addition, they will assist with recruitment events and activities with division and campus partners; support the development of student and on-call job descriptions; oversee and/or supervise designated support staff and student staff, supporting workplace investigations and progressive disciplinary actions related to student and on-call team members. 

Audit and enter student and on-call hiring transactions and paperwork including EBS forms and reporting, approve jobs postings in PeopleAdmin, maintain accurate postings in Handshake, initiate and monitor background checks, verify I-9s, analysis of student hiring and employee data.

Supervise and oversee work performed by the Unit Human Resources Coordinators. Support investigation and progressive discipline processes for student and on-call team members. Ensure staffing needs are met in a timely and efficient manner and compliance with University, State, and Federal hiring guidelines.

Lead point of contact for questions related to student promotions and pay increases, PeopleAdmin hiring workflow, and the University’s and SLE’s student and on-call hiring practices and procedures.  

Lead point of contact for the PeopleAdmin applicant tracking software used for student and temporary/on-call hiring, including Human Resources user group functions, troubleshooting of system issues/errors, and assisting with the training of end users.

Attend recruitment events and activities, responsible for the participation and coordination of the Student and On-call Team involvement with recruitment activities.

Review and process student pay requests and ensure pay increases are administered equitably. Review students rehire eligibility requests and consult with SLE HR Leadership on recommendations and serve as the division subject matter expert for student I-9s compliance. 

Draft and update student job descriptions, letter of offer templates, student and on-call team member guides. Coach and assist units with student and on-call appointments.

Oversee document imaging (RVI) for SLE employee records; train student employees on process, and validate data entered RVI system before purging records. 

All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in human resources or related field; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a human resources function or an area related to departmental operations such as using an applicant tracking system; experience working with a diverse community of student employees; knowledge of inclusive and equitable hiring policies and processes for student, on-call and temporary employees; knowledge of MSU HR and MSU Business Manual policies, recruiting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Desired Qualifications

Experience with PeopleAdmin applicant tracking software, Equifax, IChat, Microsoft Office suite, and Enterprise Business System (EBS).
