Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

• Design, implement, and optimize deep learning pipelines for robust speech recognition and multimodal systems
• Build production-grade APIs and deployment infrastructure (cloud and edge)
• Develop evaluation frameworks and testbeds for ASR accessibility
• Create data processing pipelines for speech datasets
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team to transition prototypes into production systems
• Contribute to research publications and presentations

Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• MS in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
• 3+ years production experience with speech/audio ML systems
• Expert-level Python; strong PyTorch/TensorFlow skills
• Demonstrated experience deploying ML models to production
• Proven track record of delivering reliable, scalable systems
• Strong software engineering practices (version control, testing, documentation)

Preferred:

• Research publications in speech/ML venues
• Experience with modern ASR architectures and streaming or real-time systems
• Cloud deployment experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) and/or edge optimization
• Background in speech accessibility, fairness in ML, or assistive technologies
• Knowledge of speech differences (stuttering, dysarthria, accents)
• Open-source contributions in speech/ML (please provide GitHub link)
