This is an on-call position. Provides food service, custodial, grounds maintenance, general labor or other main support on an on-call basis.
Unit Position Summary
MSU Bikes is seeking a part-time Bicycle Maintenance Assistant.
This position will assess customer bicycle problems, perform bicycle maintenance and repair, write up work orders, assist customers with sales and rentals, operate a cash register, general cleaning and maintaining organization of work shop as needed.
The working days/hours for this job will be 19 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 9am-5pm. Pay is $14-$15 per hour.
MSU Bikes is owned and operated by Michigan State University and is the resource for all things bike related. MSU is a gold-level Bike Friendly University, an award from the League of American Bicyclists. Our mission is to encourage bicycling and provide the accessibility, support, and education necessary to continue making bicycling a viable, safe, inviting option for the MSU community.
Desired Qualifications
Have working knowledge of tools and repair of bikes, frequent lifting 25 to 50 pounds, excellent customer service skills, good communication skills. A passion for bicycling and encouraging it.
A creative and innovative lifelong learner with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, able to problem solve within a collaborative team environment, ability to understand different perspectives while utilizing expert knowledge of the technical operations of the job.
Ability to pass a university criminal background check.
