Director of Academic Achievement
Position Summary
The Director of Academic Achievement is responsible for creating and managing programs and services to support the academic success of all medical students. This role is also responsible for the budget, resource utilization and supervision within the unit.
- 50% (Advising) Review progress and assessment data with individual students to consider support needs. Counsel medical students on effective study strategies and support decision making around licensure exams. Make recommendations for additional resources as appropriate.
- 20% (Teaching) Provide knowledge and skills instruction for medical students across all levels of training.
- 10% (Other) Manage and develop support resources responsive to the needs of students including supervising the recruitment and training of tutors and small group facilitators.
- 10% (Advising) Coordinate with other units to support student progress, including success on USMLE Step 1 and 2 exams as well as course work.
- 10% (Other) Provide overall management of the unit, unit resources and supervision of unit personnel.

Required Degree
Masters -Education, Higher Education Administration, education, psychology, social work, or a related field
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s or other advanced degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, education, psychology, social work, or a related field
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in academic advising or related higher education role.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with retention and student achievement initiatives at a public university.
- Experience in medical student education.
- Background in assessment and program evaluation.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience managing unit budgets.
