Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This a temporary or on-call position. Provides a wide variety of consulting services including conference, seminar or workshop design/presentation; operations review and analysis; project design, completion, coordination or management; or related consulting services. Consultants paid on grant funds must be paid on an hourly or daily basis, with a minimum wage of $12.00 per hour. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
This is a temporary or an on-call position that provides technical support to the Extension
Center for Economic Analysis (CEA). Responsibilities include computer programming or
operations, research support, and other technical support functions as needed.
We are looking for a detail-oriented individual for part-time and remote work in the areas of
data management and analysis. This individual will be responsible for collecting,
managing, updating, tabulating and reporting on a wide range of secondary and primary
data, using a combination of Stata, Excel, and SPSS. The ideal candidate will also have
excellent written and verbal communication skills for the purposes of drafting reports and
communicating findings to stakeholders.
This is a part-time position with expected weekly commitment of up to 10 hours, with
occasion for more hours. All work is expected to be completed remotely with weekly in-
person or virtual meetings.
Desired Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities
• 5+ years of experience with survey data collection, management, and analysis
across a variety of topics related to food systems, public health, and livelihoods
• Advanced spreadsheet development and data cleaning skills
• Advanced Stata and SPSS abilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Data visualization skills through graphing and chart development.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desired Qualifications
• 10 years of experience with survey data collection, management, and analysis
across a variety of topics related to food systems, public health, and livelihoods
• Exposure to R and Python
• Ability to adapt to multiple coding environments
• Familiarity with consumer demand theory
• Prior experience with MSU systems, especially extension outreach and contract
work
Candidate Qualifications
Master’s degree in agricultural economics with no less than 5 years of experience
working with large data sets and survey administration and design outside of the
classroom.
