Position Summary
University Arts and Collections (UAC) is searching for an ambitious communications coordinator with experience supporting the execution of communications strategies, storytelling campaigns, and content planning and creation. Guided by the belief that the arts are essential to a vibrant university community that is resilient, inclusive, collaborative, and globally minded, this strategy is committed to advancing the impact and amplifying the presence of the arts across campus. Reporting to the sr. director of communications and marketing for UAC, the person in this position will be responsible for the creation of digital content for social media channels, the Arts MSU e-newsletter, and the Arts MSU and UAC websites. They will also lead audience development, digital analytics monitoring and reporting trends research, and social media strategy for the UAC communications team. Playing a crucial role in amplifying the impact of the arts—one of Arts MSU’s three strategic pillars—this person will also collaborate across campus to support the content goals of other colleges, units, central university communications, and the president and provost’s offices, as well as fundraising storytelling for the university’s comprehensive campaign, as this work relates to the arts. To support deeper experiential learning for MSU students, this position also includes the supervision and mentorship of paid student interns.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Communications, Telecommunications, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in internal communications; news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation software; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
