Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Position Title: Communication & Digital Design Assistant

Location: Hybrid / Remote
Type: Part-time
Pay Rate: $15/hour

Hours: Flexible (10–20 hours per week)

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communication & Digital Design Assistant to support website interface design, visual communication, and outreach activities. The ideal candidate has strong design skills, communication abilities, and experience producing publication-quality reports using Adobe InDesign.

This role involves working on digital platforms, visual storytelling, and social media engagement to communicate research and project outcomes to a broad audience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and improve website interface layouts and user experience
  • Create visual graphics and digital content for web and social media
  • Assist with social media engagement and outreach campaigns
  • Help prepare publication-quality reports and documents using Adobe InDesign
  • Support communication materials including:
    • infographics
    • project summaries
    • presentation slides
  • Collaborate with the team to translate technical content into clear visual communication

Required Qualifications

  • Major in Communication, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Art & Design, or related field
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe InDesign
  • Basic knowledge of website design / UI layout
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to present complex ideas in clear visual formats
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with social media management
  • Familiarity with Figma, Adobe XD, or other UI design tools
  • Experience designing reports, brochures, or publications
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS or website content management systems
  • Interest in communication for research, planning, or community projects
