Position Summary

The Michigan State University department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences and the Center for Global Change and Earth Observation invite applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Professor David Roy’s lab (https://sites.google.com/view/msu-roy-lab/home) to begin as soon as possible. The position is in support of 5-year US federally funded research to undertake quantitative remote sensing research, including manipulation and processing of terrestrial satellite data, and the opportunity to participate with the USGS/NASA Landsat Science Team working on the next Landsat mission. Qualified candidates will have experience with satellite data processing, computer programming, and published research in the peer reviewed literature.

Doctorate -geography or related field
Minimum Requirements
The successful candidate is required to have a PhD with a quantitative background, at least three years computer programming experience, and at least one first authored publication in the peer reviewed remote sensing literature and an interest in remote sensing research.
Desired Qualifications
At least three years experience using satellite data. Good oral and written communication and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a research team. Willingness to continue to write research articles. Coding in a Linux environment. Coding in R and Python. Deep learning experience. Terrestrial remote sensing research experience using time series.
