Program and Engagement Coordinator
Position Summary
The Educational Program Coordinator II supports the planning, coordination, and execution of workshops, conferences, and educational programs for the Office of K-12 Outreach. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality programs by leading logistical operations, coordinating communications, and supporting marketing and outreach efforts.
In this capacity, the individual manages the operational and logistical components of program delivery. Responsibilities include coordinating event timelines, securing facilities, arranging travel and accommodations, processing contracts, providing the department FO with event-related costs and monitoring expenses, and overseeing all day-of-event logistics. The position works closely with the Director and program leadership to support agenda development and speaker coordination, ensuring all elements are aligned and executed effectively.
The role also supports program implementation by coordinating materials, managing registration processes, maintaining participant communications, and ensuring all necessary documentation (e.g., CEUs/SCECHs, billing, and reporting) is completed accurately and on time. The individual gathers feedback and evaluation data to support continuous improvement of programs and participant experience.
A key component of this position includes marketing and communications coordination. The Educational Program Coordinator II assists in developing and implementing promotional strategies, manages content calendars, and supports outreach efforts across multiple platforms. Responsibilities include designing and producing promotional materials (e.g., flyers, social media graphics, and presentations), maintaining website content, and ensuring consistent branding across all communications.
This role serves as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders—including faculty, partners, speakers, and participants—to coordinate logistics and ensure clear, timely communication. The position may also represent the Office in meetings related to program coordination and event planning.
Additionally, the Educational Program Coordinator II may provide functional supervision to student employees and support staff, coordinating their work related to event logistics, marketing, and program delivery. The role also includes general administrative and operational support, such as calendar coordination, travel arrangements, and maintenance of organizational systems that support efficient program execution.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Educational Theory and Methodology and/or a specialization in the designated area of expertise; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in planning and overseeing seminars and conferences including public relations, organizing and disseminating training materials and information both written and web-based; budget and records maintenance and computer support; experience in supervision, database, spreadsheet, word processing, desktop publishing, knowledge of HTML programming and web site development and management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience coordinating logistics for professional events, conferences, or educational programs
Experience supporting marketing and communication efforts across digital and print platforms
Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
Experience managing websites or digital content
Experience working with budgets, contracts, and/or grant-funded programs.
Familiarity with MSU systems (EBS, Concur, etc.)
Experience coordinating or supervising student employees or project-based teams
