Associate Telecom Engineer
Position Summary
The Unified Communications team manages the critical communications infrastructure for the University, including the Telephony, Cable Television, Cellular, Contact Centers, Emergency Communications and Digital Signage platforms. The team works with University partners to consult, design, develop, deploy and maintain telecommunications systems to serve the needs of the community. This position on the Unified Communications Team, reporting to the Manager of the Unified Communications Team, will help the team manage, maintain, and enhance the Telephone, Contact Centers, digital signage, and Cellular on campus. This candidate would be working with others on the team to create new telecom applications for customers, maintain existing applications and maintain existing systems on the University’s critical communications systems. This candidate will be working with phone systems, cellular systems, cable television equipment, networked systems and much more to support critical services, which serve the University community.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Telecommunications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications
- Experience with Avaya Aura Communication Systems, including Avaya System Manager, Avaya Communication Manager, Avaya Session Manager, Avaya Session Border Controllers, Avaya Application Enablement Services
- Experience creating script, programs or applications to automate requests or services in the Telecommunications space
- Experience working with educational departments to support, design, consult and deploy telecommunications services
- 1-2 years experience in customer service
