Working/Functional Title

Radiology Veterinary Technician

Position Summary

Sedation, monitoring, and imaging of primarily small animal patients. Diagnostic imaging support including radiography, CT, and fluoroscopy. Medication administration, patient monitoring, recovery, and reversal. Animal positioning and direct support with veterinary students. Works closely with radiologists, radiographers, and fellow LVTs. Ongoing training opportunities in advanced imaging modalities.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, Veterinary Technology education. Six months to one year of progressive experience in patient care, anesthesia and sedation, surgery support, drug dosing, and sterilization. Michigan Licensed Veterinary Technician or attainment of such certification within one year from date of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Veterinary anesthesia experience. Experience working in a teaching environment with students. Familiarity with radiation emitting equipment. Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Summary of Physical Demands

Will be required to lift medical equipment and animals into cages; carry animals between cages and exam tables/gurneys; push
cartscontaining animals and equipment to other areas of the hospital; climb stairs carrying lab samples; restrain animals. Lifting of up to
50lbsindividually or 150lbs as a team.

Summary of Health Risks

Working with animals or unfixed tissue. May wear respirator. Possible exposure to zoonotic diseases.
