Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

• Silver Lake State Park ORV Visitor Use Study: Surveys with ORV users on their recreation experiences; Documenting use levels & types; & Focus groups with communities. 

• Mountain Biking Impacts on Rural Communities Project: Trailhead surveys on experiences & impacts; Interviews with related groups; & Engagement with clubs & events.

• Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area Recreation Ecology Assessment: Field research on the impacts of trails, attractions, & campsites on a unique and well-loved Wilderness.

• Additional Opportunities: Wildlife areas scenario planning workshops; Northern Forest winter recreation & climate change survey development; & Data analysis & writing for those interested.

• Skill Development: Applied research methods across multiple contexts, Visitor use management, Recreation ecology, Community engagement; Professional communication; & Networking.

 

Desired Qualifications

• Enjoy being outdoors in varied conditions

• Comfortable engaging the public professionally

• Organized, reliable, & team-oriented

• • Hold a valid US drivers license

• Available weekends & holidays (critical sampling days)

• Interested in parks, recreation, nature-based tourism, sustainability, or conservation research
