Position Summary
The Charles Stewart Mott Department of Public Health at Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine invites applicants to apply for the research technologist (RT II) position for the NIMH-funded ROSE Scale-up Study (ROSES-II). The study seeks to hire a full-time RT II to meet the needs of the study. This study has been funded under Dr. Jennifer Johnson, Founding Chair, C.S. Mott Endowed Professor of Public Health, Professor of OBGYN, Psychiatry, and Behavioral Medicine. This project assesses effectiveness, cost-outcome, equity, and scalability of using the ROSE postpartum depression prevention intervention as universal vs. selective or indicated prevention for postpartum depression using commonly available/existing clinical screening tools.
This is a high touch, high volume recruiting and follow up study involving ~6,000 interviews overall for study eligibility, baseline, and follow-up with study participants. Occasional evening hours may be required to accommodate the time zone differences for study participants. To be successful in this position, the individual will need to be a conscientious and meticulous documenter. Characteristics Duties- Responsibilities
• Assist with scheduling the ~6,000 interviews overall for study eligibility, baseline, and follow-up.
• Maintain participant tracking across the U.S. and ensure accurate, detailed recordkeeping in accordance with study procedures
• Perform clinical assessments in order to generate data for the research project.
• Collect and record research data
• Analyze data and record research methods, procedures, and results in order to assist the principal investigators.
• Assist in compiling study results and preparing information for reports.
• Use research procedural electronic data capture systems (i.e. REDCap) and related software; etc.
• Perform duties normally associated with a Research Technologist I or other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
knowledge normally acquired by completing a four- year college degree program in Public Health or other related field; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience performing basic research techniques specific to the area of research employment such as: Tissue Culture, Analytical Research, Molecular Biology, Agriculture, Social Science, Physiology, Medical Research, etc., including the use and calibration of related equipment; word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Two or three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in clinical research with human subjects; experience following research protocols; experience with word processing, spreadsheets and proficiency with data and participant tracking software; the ability to troubleshoot and analyze problems with excellent communications, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential; experience and be certified with the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 (SCID-5), and the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS); experience working independently; ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team; commitment to maintaining confidentiality; Completion of human subject training and certification (online program) prior to contact with participants or data. Living in or near the Flint, MI area is preferred.
