Position Summary
CREATE for STEM Institute in the College of Education at Michigan State University seeks a postdoctoral scholar to support and coordinate project activities and programs in elementary science classes. This individual will support to collaborate and coordinate study partners and other members of the study team, develop the AI scoring algorithms and a teacher dashboard, implement AI for analyzing student responses – including tasks such as modifying rubrics, employing AI supported tools, collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, and writing scholarly materials.
Responsibilities include working with the project director and other team members to 1) coordinate data collection from schools, teachers, and students, 2) design, develop, and conduct interviews with elementary school teachers and students, 3) collect, organize, and analyze data, 5) provide management and leadership for the project, 6) work with a team to plan and write reports, conference papers and journal articles that disseminate the research, and 7) make presentations at regional and national conferences.
The candidate will collaborate with faculty, other postdoctoral scholars and graduate students in Michigan State's CREATE for STEM Institute (http://www.create4stem.msu.edu/).

Required Degree
Doctorate -science education or a science discipline
Minimum Requirements
Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in science education or a science discipline.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates with extensive experience in assessment development, rubric design, advanced statistical analysis are highly preferred, particularly those who have applied Artificial Intelligences approaches to support and improve learning. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in educational research including knowledge of mixed-methods research design, and direct experience in elementary science education. Candidates should also demonstrate extensive expertise in developing AI models and educational technology platforms for analyzing elementary students’ written responses and for generating feedback for both teachers and students.
