Position Summary
Join the MSU PCard Program as a PCard Analyst and help manage a high-impact financial operation supporting 3,000+ cardholders and $65+M in annual spend. This role combines operational oversight, compliance analytics, and process improvement to strengthen financial controls and enhance the user experience. You'll work cross-functionally to analyze data, improve systems, and drive program effectiveness - making a direct impact on a critical university-wide function.
The PCard Analyst supports the operational and strategic management of the university's procurement card program by overseeing key processes, strengthening compliance and financial controls, and driving continuous improvement. This role leverages data analysis and critical thinking to monitor transactions, identify risks, and implement solutions that enhance program effectiveness and accountability. Responsibilities include card lifecycle operations, compliance monitoring and reporting, system and data management, and stakeholder communication and training. Working under the direction of the PCard Administrator, the Analyst partners with internal stakeholders to support audits, investigations, and system enhancements while ensuring the secure handling of sensitive information. This role is essential to maintaining the integrity, efficiency, and scalability of a high-volume financial program.
Work Modality
This position is based in East Lansing, Michigan on the campus of Michigan State University. It is in-person, with the expectation of an on-campus presence daily.
What You'll Do

Provide operational and analytical support for the PCard program, including transaction review, compliance monitoring, and issue resolution.

Analyze data to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for process improvement.

Support investigations related to noncompliance, misuse, or fraud in coordination with internal and external partners.

Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance reporting, systems, and program effectiveness.

Develop and implement process improvements aligned with policies, regulations, and best practices.

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and personnel information.

Provide guidance and support to staff and assist in maintaining continuity of operations.

Effectively communicate with cardholders, administrators, vendors, and external agencies both written and verbally and represent the department in alignment with university and unit values.

Build cross-functional expertise across PCard operations to support continuity and prepare for expanded responsibilities and future advancement opportunites.

Provide guidance and mentoring to department support staff and student employees.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a business-related field or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures and administration, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; experience in a supervisory role; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with procurement card (PCard) or commercial card programs.
- Experience working within Michigan State University systems, policies, or processes.
- Experience in audit, data analysis, or compliance monitoring.
- Experience supporting or investigating fraud, misuse, or financial risk.
