Position Summary

The Postdoctoral Scholar will support the development, integration, commissioning, operation, and scientific execution of SALER (Superconducting Array for Low Energy Radiation) experimental activities at FRIB.

Major Duties/Responsibilities

  • technical leadership for the integration of SALER detector systems within the FRIB infrastructure
  • coordination with FRIB staff
  • support for first rare isotope beam experiment using SALER
  • participation in FRIB-based experimental campaigns

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • expertise in superconducting quantum sensors and/or fundamental symmerties
  • Ability to conduct research
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively and credibly, both verbally and in writing, with all audiences.
  • Proficiency in experimentation, data analysis, and simulation

Required Degree

Doctorate -experimental nuclear physics, particle physics, condensed matter physics, or atomic/molecular optical physics

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD. in experimental nuclear physics, particle physics, condensed matter physics, or atomic/molecular optical physics
  • Demonstrated hands on experience with superconducting quantum sensors and/or experimental tests of fundamental physics
  • An ability to carry out independent and original research as demonstrated by published works in refereed journals and/or conference proceedings
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, as evidenced by published works and by presentations at conferences, workshops, scientific outreach, and other professional meetings
  • Strong research interest, expressed clearly in the cover letter, in one or more of the specific research areas listed for the research group
  • Ability to work with export-controlled technologies

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with cryogenic systems
  • Experience with low noise electronics
  • Experience with data acquisition systems
