Spartan Linen Motor Vehicle Operator

Position Summary

Loads truck with clean products and delivers to customers following deadlines, assigned routes, customers’ needs and communication from supervision; unloads items to various docks, offices, closets and locations seeking signatures and picking up dirty items to be laundered; communicates to team members and supervision any special requests, needs and concerns from customers that occurred while products are routed to locations; works closely with other drivers to insure all deadlines and customers are serviced in a timely manner; maintains cleanliness of truck fleet and communicates potential repairs needed and makes arrangement with supervisor to ensure those repairs are taken care of timely; completes other duties as assigned, such as taking items to off campus vendors to be silkscreened for customers.

This position has “high” customer touch as far as communication between customers and team in the plant since often they are the only ones to see our customers. Daily driver engages in communication, “trouble shooting”, problem solving and making suggestions for improvements. Driver actively participates in Huddle groups to keep our business meeting IPO expectations and being a Lean Organization. Maintains cleanliness of fleet by daily and weekly cleaning tasks and also communicates any problems or repairs needed for the fleet of trucks. This position is located in the Linen Services Building.

All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they m upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community

Minimum Requirements

• Working knowledge and demonstrated ability to satisfactorily operate a single unit motor vehicle.
• Casual knowledge of minor automotive repairs and adjustments is desirable.
• Possession of a valid Michigan chauffeur's license(s). Applicant must have a good driving record and submit their driver's license number on their application form for a motor vehicle record check.
• Frequent lifting of 26 to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of over 75 pounds.
