Position Summary

The RHS Service Hub Coordinator (Office Assistant III) will support the Residence Education and Housing Services (REHS) Housing Assignments Office and Culinary Services partners to address customer service needs through the service call center, including students, family and guest calls and emails. The incumbent will report to both REHS and Culinary Services leaders to achieve RHS Service Hub objectives and goals.  

This position will work in the RHS Service Hub in 1855 Place and will be responsible for the following:  

  • Serve as lead of the Residential and Hospitality Services (RHS) Service Hub addressing requests through the service call center, including students, family and guest calls and emails.  

  • Review all housing charges in various software systems and make necessary corrections.  

  • Process housing applications, verify housing eligibility and communicate housing requirements.  

  • Process all dining plans, change requests, ensure culinary rates are correct, and communications are sent.  

  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate referral sources for resolution.  

  • Deliver professional and timely communication with customer service requests.  

  • May supervise, train and hire student employees, and reconcile and approve student payroll. 

  • Receive, collect and process complex and diverse information and independently render decisions in order to contribute to request specific actions.  

  • Prepare and/or assist in developing and compiling analytical reports.  

  • Process complex information to analyze options and to resolve problems.  

  • Interact with University personnel, students, external agencies, and the public, verify information and make judgments to ensure that records and actions are correct.  

  • Interpret and facilitate terms and conditions of documents or agreements. 

  • Research and collect data to assist in the preparation of proposals and reports.  

  • Draft and type memos, reviewing and editing as necessary.  

  • Complete project work independently to facilitate the functioning of the divisional service delivery.  

  • Perform duties normally associated with Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Accounting Clerk I and Accounting Clerk II to assist in accomplishing the goals of customer service delivery and  

 

All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community. This position is a dual report to Residence Education and Housing Services and Culinary Services. This is an in-person position, physically located in 1855 Place office building.  

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in word processing, spreadsheet, database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation and webpage software; typing and filing; maintaining accounting ledgers; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
