Position Summary

The Biomechanics Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Michigan State University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on computational modeling development for brain-cerebrovascular system. The successful candidate will work on and contribute to ongoing research projects that solve problems related to the brain by developing multiscale/multiphysics computational models as well as publish peer-reviewed journal papers. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to help mentor students and write proposals. The successful candidate will receive ample training, collaboration and fellowship application opportunities.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Biomedical Engineering, or closely related

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Biomedical Engineering or closely related field

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong background in biomechanics, biomedical engineering, computational mechanics, or equivalent fields.
  • Strong foundation in numerical methods, especially the finite element method. Proficient in python and C++ programming language. Special consideration will be given to candidates who are familiar with the open-source finite element library FeNiCS, brain finite element modeling, medical image processing, and machine learning techniques.
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
