Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Seeking research technician to assist a graduate student with fisheries research at the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Hammond Bay Biological Station (HBBS) in Millersburg, Michigan from roughly mid Oct to mid-December 2026 (flexible start and end dates/ weather dependent). This position will involve setting up and conducting behavioral experiments on adult cisco (Coregonus artedi) to test their responses to different odor cues. Majority of work will occur between 4 pm - 12 am in this position.

Experiments will take place indoors, in a laboratory at HBBS. Experience working in a hatchery/caring for fish desired. Position will also involve operating truck and trailer to transport water tanks between Jordan River National Fish Hatchery and Hammond Bay Biological Station. Valid US driver’s license is required. Housing near HBBS is provided.

· Variable workdays (includes weekends)

· 8-hour workday

· 40 hours per week

Desired Qualifications

· Hatchery / fish care experience

· Comfortable driving MSU work truck and trailer

· Comfortable living in rural/remote area

· Comfortable with living in and driving in winter weather
