Position Summary

We are looking for a dynamic manager to lead multiple on-campus Starbucks locations within Culinary Services. In this role, you will champion our Residential and Hospitality Services values to deliver an exceptional guest experience. You will be a vital instructor to our student and support team, guiding them through barista certifications and mastering the craft of 100+ beverage and food recipes. From managing vendor relationships and tracking financial data to keeping inventory perfectly stocked, you will ensure our stores run seamlessly while meeting strict health, safety, and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Manage multiple on-campus Starbucks units, ensuring full alignment with university hospitality values and Starbucks brand compliance.
- Team Development: Supervise, support, and schedule student and support staff. Facilitate initial Barista Certifications and lead ongoing brand training.
- Inventory & Vendor Management: Forecast operational needs, place retail and food store orders across multiple vendors, and maintain optimal dry and frozen inventory levels.
- Quality & Safety Assurance: Enforce health, safety, and sanitation standards across all operations. Oversee maintenance for brand-specific brewing and cafe equipment.
- Financial Administration: Maintain accurate unit records and prepare periodic or specialized financial reports.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between guests, vendors, university partners, and campus departments.
- Recipe Excellence: Master and coach staff on 100+ food and beverage codes, recipes, and crafting techniques.

All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training such as that acquired in one year of college, technical, vocational, trade or business school; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in performing tasks related to the area of employment; and requires one to three years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience and education in management; ability to work in extremely fast paced, highly mobile student guest environment; previous work in team management setting; prior experience creating partner and vendor win-win relationships; experience with point-of sale system, employee scheduling and basic human resources functions.
Preferred Starbuck's certification in the area of employment.
