Position Summary
Join our dynamic team as Stockhandler I, where you will be the backbone of Culinary Services in Residential and Hospitality Services! In this vital role, you ensure our dining halls and retail units have exactly what they need to deliver exceptional experiences. - Drive Efficiency: Oversee the seamless receipt, organized storage, and timely distribution of premium food items, supplies, and equipment.
- Guard the Quality: Act as the final line of defense by verifying deliveries against tickets, ensuring we only accept top-tier products.
- Master Inventory Flow: Keep stock perfectly optimized using a precise FIFO (First In, First Out) rotation system to maximize freshness and eliminate waste.
- Maintain Excellence: Take pride in keeping a pristine, sanitized, and safe workspace across all storerooms and walk-in refrigerators.
- Thrive Together: Collaborate and succeed daily within a diverse, dynamic, and fast-moving team environment.
Position is located in River Trail neighborhood.
All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
- Working knowledge of tool nomenclature, use of stock catalogs, record keeping, and proper food safety storage methods is necessary.
- Computer familiarity may be required.
- Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license(s) is necessary.
- Frequent lifting of over 75 pounds is required.
