Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The Histology Laboratory Assistant contributes to the delivery of undergraduate histology laboratory courses. Duties may include assisting students during laboratory sessions, holding office hours, grading assignments and assessments, preparing course and laboratory materials, maintaining course records, proctoring exams, and performing other course-related responsibilities as assigned. The Histology Laboratory Assistant works closely with course instructors and graduate teaching assistants to foster student learning and ensure the effective operation of laboratory courses.

Desired Qualifications

Successful completion of the histology course associated with this position, or equivalent coursework, with strong academic performance is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of histological concepts, tissue identification, and microscopy, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Applicants must be able to explain course concepts effectively and assist students in a supportive learning environment. The successful candidate will be reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively with instructors and graduate teaching assistants. Proficiency with basic computer applications and learning management systems is expected.
