Position Summary

MSU, Department of Medicine, Division of Occupational Medicine, seeks a Research Assistant 1. The individual will coordinate and conduct public health activities for selected occupational health conditions and motor vehicle crashes, including analyzing data and writing papers, reports, and educational materials. The research is epidemiological and statistical research. There is no laboratory work. A large percentage of the time requires computer work. The individual will work closely with other members of the Division and individuals in the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Occupational and Environmental Health; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Desired Qualifications

Master's-level degree with skills in epidemiology and statistical analysis. 

Experience working with occupational health data. Experience with R and Microsoft products (Word, Excel, ACCESS).
