College Prevention Coordinator

The College Prevention Coordinator (CPC) will be responsible for the general day to day activities and organization of the campus community coalition and its work on the College Environmental Prevention objectives as established by the grant through NY State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS). The coordinator will be responsible for assessment, capacity building, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with the identified college prevention priorities. The coordinator will guide the coalition to develop and implement strategies that will lead to long-term involvement of community institutions, organizations, and individuals in college underage drinking and drug abuse prevention. Position is grant funded for 3 years with the possibility of permanent funding and long-term renewal.
- Work as a team member of the Hazen Center for Integrated Care, Prevention and Outreach Services Department.
- Coordinate and assist in alcohol and other drug prevention training for campus staff, faculty and Student Health Advocates.
- Assist in coordination and data analysis of the CORE survey biannually, and the University at Buffalo AOD (Alcohol and Other Drug) bi-annual survey.
- Act as co-chair of the campus community coalition, help assist, coordinate and facilitate coalition meetings, and related activities, work as team member with coalition members and community partners.
- Work with Regional Prevention Resource Center and coalition members to develop and implement data collection tools and methods for assessment and evaluation and develop evaluation measures for implementation activities.
- Communicate effectively and regularly with coalition members on the Strategic Planning Framework process and collaborate with community sectors, OASAS and Local Governmental Units to complete the steps of the SPF process.
- Serve as a consultant to the coalition to develop community partnerships.
- Assist coalition members in strategic planning and developing a comprehensive action plan based on assessment results.
- Document findings and progress of programs and activities in written reports to OASAS and local PRC (Prevention Resource Center) and coalition members, monthly.
- Assist in the development, facilitation, coordination and assessment of all campus alcohol and drug prevention activities (Party Smart Campaign).
- Assist in the development, coordination, and maintenance of screening and brief intervention services for students on the campus.
- Assist in the coordination of increased enforcement efforts, working directly with University Police and the Brockport Police Department.
- Evaluate implementation activity effectiveness on an on-going basis.
- Manage and oversee expenditures of College Environmental Prevention initiative budget (or MOU).
- Complete monthly grant reporting and purchase requisitions.
- Keep current and expand knowledge in the areas of college underage drinking, substance use and prescription drug misuse and serve as resource person for the coalition and campus community.
- Participate and actively contribute to weekly staff meetings.
Master's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university in public health or health education, administration, policy/planning, community/organizational psychology or related field or Bachelor's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university and five years of experience managing or coordinating college/community-based public health program or health-related agency; proven ability to work independently and excellent organizational skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and, familiarity and comfort with reporting outcomes in web-based system.
Minimum of two years experience with health education programs in a college setting; knowledge of the Strategic Prevention Framework and the OASAS Prevention Framework; and, public relations or marketing skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Prevention and Outreach Services provides The College at Brockport with services, programs, and interventions that address the biological, psychological, and social factors that impact the health of individuals, students groups, and the campus community. Evidence and theory based practices are used to assist students in developing and maintaining healthy behaviors, skills, and attitudes that enhance personal development, academic success, and campus/community well-being.

Salary and Benefits
