Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Assistive Technology Specialist (ATS). The main purpose of the ATS is to facilitate a culture of student success through engagement, support, and accessibility and to foster equal access to college programs and services.  This position is responsible for providing technical expertise and support for students and staff in the Academic Success Center (ASC), as well as campus partners, with a particular focus on project coordination and assistive technology. This individual works with campus constituents and partners to understand and document stystem requirements; translates requirements into campus based and student support solutions; answers community questions through partnerships and training,including troubleshooting, break/fix support, researching and solving problems; and serves as a collaborative and creative problem solver on complex issues. 

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and analyze day to day operations and relate them to technical/software processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer technology and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and learn applications to become a subject matter expert.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, public, college community and external constituencies, with an appreciation for cultural and group differences.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional work experience in an educational setting.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of computer literacy, including the ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Working knowledge of Educational Student Information and Content Management Systems (i.e. Banner, Blackboard, Starfish systems).
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing assistive technology (i.e. Kurzweil 3000, Glean, JAWS, ZoomText, Dragon Naturally Speaking).
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, Some Evenings
Salary and Benefits: Minimum Salary is $61,900, May be benefits eligible; more information at Careers@Brockport.  This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
