Job Summary: |
Drake Memorial Library is seeking a Library Assistant 2 for library acquisitions. The Library Assistant 2 will procure continuing subscriptions, ebooks, and physical materials. They will receive incoming purchase requests, and research to determine the best options based on New York State procurement policies, availability, license options, and cost. They will place orders in multiple online systems, track requests throughout the procurement lifecycle, and add metadata to library systems to make items discoverable. They will liaise with vendors to troubleshoot access issues, replace damaged materials, and resolve other concerns.
They will coordinate withdrawal projects and participate in other collections projects. They will reconcile procurement card statements monthly and provide end-of-year budgeting reports. Additionally, they will serve as backup for copy cataloging and ordering office supplies.
They will supervise one Library Assistant 1 and several student workers. They will have regular meetings with the Library Assistant 1, as well as develop yearly performance plans and conduct yearly reviews of the Library Assistant 1. They will hire, schedule, and train student workers.
The Library Assistant 2 will support a collegial and inclusive work environment to promote the success of all Brockport students. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Candidates must have permanent appointment in a Library Assistant 2 NY State classified position or be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service eligible list for Library Assistant 2 Full-Time, Brockport location.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a similar role
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Experience using Alma
- Experience procuring library resources or managing subscriptions

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm |
