Job Summary: SUNY Brockport seeks a transformational leader who is a change agent to serve as the Assistant Director for the EOP. The position reports to the EOP Director and has the overall responsibility to provide leadership and oversight with financial aid, recruitment & retention, registration/advising patterns and student mentoring. This individual should have a vested interest to lead EOP student recruitment and retention efforts and action planning, communication plans, serve as primary liaison to Academic Affairs and be ready to provide differing yet sound perspectives to support the office. Should have knowledge and passion for working with students from diverse backgrounds and have in depth knowledge for opportunity programs.

The Assistant Director will collaborate closely across all divisions at the university, especially Enrollment Management and Student Affairs units. The successful candidate will serve as the primary liaison to varying Enrollment Management – EM – departments such as, financial aid, registration and records and undergraduate admissions, academic success center – which houses Talon Academy & Success Initiatives, student accessibility. This individual should be eager to explore and implement creative student-centered solutions to achieve significant accomplishments in a dynamic higher education environment. The Assistant Director of EOP will strive to help the University to reach enrollment goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role in Opportunity Programs, advisement, financial aid, and/or an enrollment-related department.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in higher education.
  • Progressively responsible leadership experience at a college or university.
  • Experience in supervision of professional staff.
  • Demonstrated experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
  • Experience working with a CRM, such as Slate.
  • Strong personnel management skills including team development, strategic planning, the ability to manage multiple functions, and organize institution resources to meet goals and objectives.
  • Ability to foster an environment of exemplary professionalism and commitment among staff to build strong working relationships with other university departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of experience in a leadership role in an opportunity program.
  • Experience working collaboratively across varying constituents within higher education – enrollment management, student, and academic affairs.
  • Experience in evaluating, selecting, and implementing emerging technologies that support the processes within EOP/or enrollment areas.
  • Professional experience working in SUNY.
  • Experience with Slate, Banner, MS Teams, and/or other relevant technology.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, statutes, campus processes, and awareness of law and policy proposals affecting EOP/opportunity programs.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm
Salary and Benefits: Minimum starting salary - $73,581
