Job Summary:

SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Intercultural Center Coordinator to oversee the Joey Jackson Intercultural Center (JJIC). Reporting to the Associate Director for Student Union Leadership and Activities (SULA), the Intercultural Center Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the programs and services within the Center. 

  • Designs events and/or services that focus on identity exploration, culture, social justice education, retention, and concerns of the students and student identities affiliated with the Center.
  • Directs programs and supervises undergraduate student staff.
  • Contributes to the overall vision and mission of Student Union Leadership and Activities.
  • Designs the signature events that define the identity of the JJIC and SULA, which include Golden Eagle Experience, Identity Months, Umoja Ceremony, and dialogues on various intersectional issues.
  • Works collaboratively with the SULA team in implementing strategies to support and educate University students, faculty and staff about the lives, culture and concerns of various groups served by JJIC.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Work experience with underrepresented students and/or within diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing programs, workshops, and/or educational materials.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and maintain a core group of volunteers.
  • Ability to identify and develop opportunities for student empowerment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Higher Education/Student Personnel, Social Justice Education, Counseling, Social Welfare, or a related field.
  • Support/Discussion group facilitation skills and experience.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, some weekends
Salary and Benefits: Minimum starting salary - $55,151
