Widener University’s Department of Biology seeks applicants for a non-tenure track Senior Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor beginning fall 2022 academic year. Candidates who have expertise in Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology, or related fields are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. This role will join a supportive environment in the Department of Biology, with a history of close collaboration between non-tenure track teaching faculty and tenure-track faculty in teaching and scholarly pursuits.  Title will depend on highest degree.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential duties:

  • Teaching responsibilities will include introductory microbiology and/or anatomy & physiology lecture and laboratory courses for pre-health majors, as well as other courses relevant to the candidate’s expertise. 
  • Engage in the use of inclusive pedagogy and mentoring practices aimed at student success.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Academic citizenship at all levels within the university OR developing research programs conducted with undergraduate students that result in publication of research activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Candidates must have completed at least their M.S. by December 2021 (terminal degree preferred). 

Preferred:

  • Prior teaching experience is (at least 1-2 years as primary course instructor).
  • Ph.D. degree-holder is preferred.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS: 

  • Candidate may be required to teach laboratory classes scheduled early (starting 8:00am) or late (ending 8:50pm).
