Location: Robert B. Annis Water Resources Institute, Muskegon, Michigan
Duties: Will crew the University’s 64 foot passenger/research vessel W. G. Jackson located in Muskegon, MI. Work hours will vary depending on the vessel schedule. Vessel season runs 1 April -31 Oct. The vessel operates approx. 500 hrs per season.
Skills: Individual must be able to perform able seaman and assistant engineer duties which include but are not limited to general ship's maintenance, line handling, operation of deck machinery, general maintenance of engines and machinery, standing watch and act as relief mate and/or engineer. Duties also include assisting scientists with handling, rigging, and operation of research equipment, and working with students on educational cruises. Will be expected to perform record keeping and help manage ship's stores.
Experience and training:
Individual must have a minimum of five years’ experience aboard vessels.
Required to participate in Random Drug Testing Program and complete CPR/First Aid certification, employer provided.
Salary: $14.00 hour with no benefits.
