Requirements: The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Grand Valley State University has continued to experience programmatic growth and is now seeking to hire an additional faculty member to complement our team. The successful candidate will have the ability and interest in joining a team that has a student-centered focus and values quality teaching, mentoring and community engagement to further the growing reputation of the program as a premium provider of quality education in the State of Michigan. A pivotal component of our successful program is the faculty. Their unique blend of sound practical experience, teaching skills and applied scholarship facilitates an engaging, contemporary learning environment for our students.
Our minimum qualifications for this position include a proven record of successfully leading hospitality businesses (lodging sector preferred), along with a proven record of successful hospitality teaching at the university level. The successful candidate will have an earned degree in hospitality or education at the master’s level or higher.
The HTM program at GVSU has a core curriculum which develops student competencies in multiple emphasis areas. Candidates with experience in teaching the specifics of lodging management and information systems within a higher education setting are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will join the Department at an Affiliate Professor rank (9 month position).
The starting date is August 2018.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
