Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with business intelligence tools and statistical packages for analyzing databases (SPSS, SAS, and/or related)
  • Ability to work independently, coordinate multiple tasks, exhibit flexibility in work schedule and job tasks; develop and maintain effective working relationships with faculty and staff members, supervisors, job contacts, and students
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Database development skills (MS Access)
  • Workflow development skills (MS Visio or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in working with diverse individuals and teams
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain positive interpersonal relationships
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully provide quality customer service.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully use a variety of computer software applications
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently, organize own work and coordinate work activities of others

 Preferred Qualifications and Education:  

  • Master's Degree in related field of study
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, and data mining
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience supporting administrative functions of a large college or university

Responsibilities - Essential Functions:  

  • Serves as administrator and data manager for all electronic research administration (eRA) systems, including Cayuse 424, IRBManager, Epigeum, Visual Compliance, My Apps, Banner, and Microsoft Access (database)
    • Maintains and maximizes the value and inter-connectivity of all eRA systems
    • Designs and executes queries and reports (both standard and on-demand)
    • Provides internal and external training and tech support
    • Devises solutions to intra-system reporting needs
    • Assists in the development of data entry and maintenance protocols and service metrics
    • Develops and maintains web-based dashboards for self-service data needs of the GVSU research administration community
    • Participates in process improvement initiatives
    • Develops and maintains written procedures and process flows that describe and formally document eRA functions
    • Supports and coordinates data and record retention activities for the research administration offices (Office of Sponsored Programs [OSP], Office of Research Compliance & Integrity [ORCI], Technology Commercialization Office [TCO], High Performance Computing [HPC], and the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship [OURS])
    • Serves as the technical liaison between the research administration offices and GVSU IT
    • Ensures data integrity and accountability within the eRA systems of record
    • Serves as the intake coordinator for all new projects submitted to the Research Administration
    • Documents, reviews, receipts, and triages new project requests to the appropriate research administration office(s)

Salary: Commensurate with experience. Position is permanent, full-time at 100% FTE (40 hours a week). GVSU is an employer of choice with excellent benefits including retirement and vacation plans.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.
