Mobility Technology Program Manager - MI SBDC Lead Center

Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in business, engineering, computer sciences or related field
  • 5 years of business experience in automotive/mobility technology field
  • Knowledge of and ongoing intellectual curiosity in automotive/mobility technology developments and trends
  • Demonstrated understanding of the automotive/mobility industry’s role in driving Michigan’s larger economy
  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications and Education: 

  • MBA or equivalent
  • Entrepreneurial experience
  • Strong writing ability

Responsibilities – Essential Functions: 

  • Help early stage automotive/mobility technology based business clients become successful through one-on-one and team business consulting in areas including commercialization and growth strategies, financing, management, and networking.
  • Build relationships with university and industry players in mobility space and connect startups as appropriate
  • Mine universities for mobility IP and identify early stage mobility tech companies statewide and out-of-state
  • Work with the MEDC, Smart Zones, and other relevant organizations in support of networking and educational events with a mobility focus
  • Work with MEDC to help promote the Planet M Mobility initiative and successes
  • Support efforts of relevant organizations (American Center for Mobility, MTRAC Transportation, UM Transportation Research Institute, TechStars Mobility, etc.)
  • Extensive in-state and occasional out-of-state travel required

Responsibilities – Non-essential Functions

  • Facilitate student projects and/or internships
  • Write articles for SBDC web site and newsletter and SBDC partner publications

Salary:  Commensurate with experience

Campus: Robert C. Pew Grand Rapids Campus (Statewide position. Works remotely and travel is required.  The MI-SBDC Mobility Technology Program Manager may establish part-time office space in facilities of organizations focused on mobility technology.)
