Summary:  Responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, and financial operations for the GVSU/Battle Creek Public Schools Partnership to Support Educational Transformation in Battle Creek, a five-year initiative.  The position is funded by a five-year W.K. Kellogg Foundation grant, offering a 32 hour work week.

Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • A minimum three years of related experience working within the field of business accounting or sponsored awards
  • Contract management experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with students, faculty and staff.
  • Strong experience in financial management
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to complete projects on a timely basis and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, in particular Excel

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Major in Accounting
  • CPA or Grant Management Certification preferred (examples: CRA, SRA, Management Concepts Grant Management Certification)

Responsibilities – Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate all of the financial and grants management functions in conformance with established grant guidelines
  • Financial operations:
    • Load budgets in Banner Software
    • Monitor all financial transactions charged to projects
    • Assist in procurement of goods and services, payment of invoices and tracking of purchase orders
    • Obtain position numbers and supporting core business operational needs
    • Reconcile financial activity and prepare journal entries as needed
    • Calculate and review indirect costs
    • Conduct site visits as appropriate
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare specialized financial reports to monitor budget to actual activity for each of the 15 project activities for monthly review by co-principal investigators
    • Provide financial support as needed by the co-principal investigators
    • Prepare financial reports as required by the grant
  • Grant Compliance:
    • Serve as a resource for grant compliance and liaison to Office of Sponsored Programs
    • Assist in the preparation of programmatic reports required by the Sponsor
  • Other duties as assigned
