Summary: Grand Valley State University’s Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member, effective either January or August of 2020. The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor. This is a 9-month tenure-track academic appointment.
Required Qualifications and Education:
A terminal degree in hospitality or a closely related field (ABDs, must be completed within 18 months of hire). Substantial management level experience in the hospitality industry with expertise in the area of operations and financial decision making, evidence of effective and innovative college-level teaching, and exhibited potential for scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
Extensive knowledge and practical experience in either food and beverage management, or meeting and event management.
Responsibilities – Essential Functions:
Teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, developing a stream of applied research, fulfilling service responsibilities of GVSU, and establishing professional relationships with companies and organizations in the hospitality industry.

Campus: Department offices are located downtown Grand Rapids;however, teaching assignments may be at other GVSU locations including Allendale.
