This Instructional Technician position directly supports the academic mission of the Engineering & Design Department by having primary responsibility for managing, maintaining, and supervising the Manufacturing Engineering laboratory suite for teaching and research purposes. The position is responsible for collaborating with faculty in planning, developing, and implementing laboratory curriculum and experiences as an integral part of the academic programs in the Department, and for providing technical expertise to support senior projects and research projects.

The Western AS Bookstore is looking for a temporary Course Materials Assistant. This position supports the Bookstore’s mission to provide a diverse student population with the materials they need to be successful. Under the direction of the Course Materials Manager, this position assists in all aspects of course materials management including with the processing of faculty course materials requisitions, researching availability and pricing, ordering, invoicing, preparing sales floor, shelving, selling, inventorying, and returning.

This position manages grant-based and industry-partnered research projects in the Polymer Materials Engineering program focused on materials development and characterization in areas such as advanced composites, thermoplastics processing, additive manufacturing and sustainable materials. The primary activities of this position include: development of novel research methods using experimental design to measure properties of materials and performance of systems; implementing research methods to accomplish research objectives; verifying research methods are meeting research goals; analyzing experimental data; supervising research students; providing technical support to research staff and students; and communicating to internal and external stakeholders through technical reports, papers and presentations.
