  • Salary relative to experience, $129,464 - $142,665 + 12% superannuation

 

Join the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and play a critical role in managing and protecting the data that drives decisions for a sustainable future. As Senior Data Steward, you’ll embrace enterprise data governance initiatives, ensuring trusted, high-quality data and safeguarding the integrity of DCCEEW’s data assets. You’ll work across teams to apply data standards, processes, controls, systems, and tools to improve data quality and implement governance policies that protect privacy and compliance

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Bring the Data Governance Framework into action, embedding best practices across DCCEEW.
  • Manage data throughout its lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Define and implement data governance and stewardship policies to meet regulatory obligations and organisational standards.
  • Maintain data access, privacy, and data management controls.
  • Use governance tools (e.g., MS Purview) to maintain an accessible inventory of enterprise data assets, including lineage, standards, etc.
  • Engage with stakeholders across divisions and entities to drive adoption of governance principles and improve maturity.

 

About You

We are seeking a professional with strong knowledge of data governance, privacy legislation, metadata management, and data management frameworks, coupled with experience in managing and stewarding data within complex environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to plan and prioritise effectively, influence and negotiate with stakeholders, and maintain accountability at an adept level. Tertiary qualifications in Information Management, Data Analytics or a related field, or equivalent experience, are essential for success in this role.
