EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.
About the Opportunity
EnergyCo’s Strategy & Policy division plays a pivotal role in shaping the organisation by developing strategies, delivering high-quality analysis that supports executive and board decision-making and building relationships with key stakeholders. The Strategy Manager will lead the Strategy team, working closely with the Director of Strategy and Relationships to engage leadership, set priorities, and deliver strategic initiatives.
In this role, you will manage EnergyCo’s corporate strategy function – developing strategies aligned with the organisational vision, presenting analysis and recommendations to inform leadership decision-making, and executing and coordinating initiatives that help achieve our goals.
You will help shape the company’s strategic priorities and direction, engage and influence internal and external stakeholders, and play a key role in positioning EnergyCo for future success. About You
You’re a proactive and collaborative problem-solver and project manager with strategy experience. You thrive working both autonomously and as part of a team, have sound qualitative and quantitative analytical skills and can tackle complex challenges with confidence. You excel at building strong working relationships, collaborating across divisions and organisations and influencing through clear communication of complex ideas.
Ideally, you have experience in strategy roles, such as consulting or in an in-house/corporate strategy function, and knowledge of the electricity or energy industry (but those are not essential). You’re skilled at managing projects and leading agile/cross-functional teams, with a demonstrated ability to structure and solve problems, analyse data and deliver results.
You have a reputation as a trusted partner to your branch, division and organisational leaders and are a valued leader within your division.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as economics, finance, public policy, or engineering, and/or equivalent relevant experience

Who we are?
The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy. EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
